Often seen throughout the community extolling the virtues of Grace Clinic, Dr. Stephen Erlandson was a co-founder and serves as Medical Director. Dr. Erlandson also volunteers his time as a physician seeing patients at the clinic.


Serving as Board Chairman, Steve Newman is passionate about providing medical care to underserved members of our community. Steve is always appreciative of the Grace Clinic team.


Dr. Jim Harrell serves on the Board as the Dental Director. He states, “Grace Clinic and the care it imparts is a living example of this community’s love and care for our neighbors. The addition of dental care elevates it to new levels as it is impossible to be totally healthy without good oral health!”


Known for his love of community and for helping others, Larry Irwin serves as Supervising Registered Pharmacist for the Clinic. Larry’s pleasure at serving on the Board is obvious in his eagerness, as a member of The Elkin Big Band, to participate in the Gala.


Board Secretary, Tami Sappenfield, feels that Grace Clinic is fulfilling her desire to give back to the community and give of her time to the Clinic especially in the areas of marketing, event planning, and fundraising.


Board Treasurer, Cynthia Gonzalez “was honored and eager to join the mission of Grace Clinic.” Cynthia states, “Not only does Grace Clinic offer crucial health care to the uninsured and under-insured members in our community, but it also provides compassion and dignity to those in need.”


Board member Robin Chandler states “Being a part of an organization whose main purpose is to genuinely “help” those who are in dire need of help—and in particular—those in need of health care, is something that I am very proud to be a part of.”


Board member Jeannette Hendrick has been a lifelong member of the Yadkin Valley Community. Jeannette has had a heart for the nonprofit world for over 38 years. Now retired, Jeannette volunteers for several nonprofit agencies.


Board Member, Matt Schrum, states, “Grace Clinic provides compassionate healthcare to those in need, and I am proud to be a small part of this effort.  With financial barriers, access to necessary medical care is in serious jeopardy for many people in our region.  It is great to live in a community that truly cares about our neighbors in need.”


Board Member Rev. Ed Birt states, “I am honored to serve on the Grace Clinic board as we strive to offer healing and hope to our community. I would like to express gratitude to the volunteers, staff, medical professionals, and partners for their dedicated service and ongoing contributions to Grace Clinic’s mission, both locally and beyond.


Board Member Rev. Dr. Kaury Edwards states, “Before I even arrived in Elkin to be the Senior Pastor of Elkin First United Methodist Church, I heard of the amazing services of Grace Clinic! I am so blessed to be part of such an amazing organization that started out of Elkin First United Methodist Church.”


Board Member Portia Hayes, a longtime friend & supporter of Grace Clinic, is excited to serve on the Board of Directors and continue advancing the Clinic’s mission of providing compassionate care to those in need.
