Dear Friends,
We depend on our donors and volunteers for their generous support of Grace Clinic and its healing ministry to those who are ill and do not have the means to get the health care they so desperately need. With the generosity of people just like you, we have been able to help nearly 500 patients in our community regain and sustain their health during the last three years. Our gratitude and that of our patients go out to everyone who has helped us in our work.
All our patients have one thing in common—they do not have health insurance to help them pay for a visit to the doctor. Many are working for employers who are small and are unable to offer health insurance to their employees. Most have families, and health care for their children comes first. Everyone who comes to Grace Clinic would pay for the visit if they were able; many do contribute by making small contributions. We are delighted to count all the dollar bills and wrap the loose change we receive. Some patients volunteer their time and skills to help us continue our ministry.
Let me tell you about Michael (not his real name) who came in not long ago. He is the father of four children and is a construction worker. His wife does not work and his construction job is temporary, so he may not work some weeks or days and when a job is finished he may not be able to find new work at all. Michael takes care of his family, but not himself. He has a chronic condition which will require medication for the rest of his life. Participation in our diabetes support group will help with his quality of life and our pharmacy assistance program, going forward, will help provide the medications he needs to stay healthy. Michael, like all of our patients, deserves better health. They are all thankful that you and all of our supporters care enough to help.
You may be wondering about the current economic downturn and how it might affect giving, but I am encouraged that, even in these difficult times, we will continue to care for those less fortunate than ourselves. I am that in the months to come you will surely be thinking carefully about how to make the greatest impact with your donations. A gift to Grace Clinic will help those in our community who are ill and have no health insurance, and it will, as a result, positively impact our community as a whole.
Please give as generously as you can.
Thank you.
Peace and grace,
Interim Executive Director
